This is being released in about a month (september 25). Me and jiggly are planning to play it, and im wondering if anyone else is too.

I am planning to roll a templar (tank) and jiggly is going for something mage-ish. Here are some links to check out if you are not too familiar with the title

Preorder here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/29640/

Would be fun if we could decide for a server and side and get something furious going!

plans:
Asmodians
server: Open Beta: Thor
furious participants: fridge, nessa, pica, pulse, dauden, jiggly, pony and friends

I am going to play it aswell.
Planning on a Templar or Cleric/Chanter. Haven't decided.
Question is what faction you choose since i prefer Asmodian. I like their mentality more. And tbh i prefer black wings and red glowing eyes :)

Yeah i'm really looking forward to the open beta start.
There's no news about it yet.
But since the retail start is only 1 month away it should go live soon.

Okay .. small update here:

*edit*
Open Beta will take place between the 6th of September and the 13th of September.

so far we have the following Players and Classes:

Fridge - Templar
Pulse - Cleric or Chanter
Jigglypuff - Sorcerer

I'll be playing Elyos... so maybe we can gank each other some if it turns out to be on the same server :P
(Templar btw, not that it matters)

Well I've agreed with some RL friends to play Elyos, and I also like the Elyos animations better (the Asmodian run animation looks really stupid tbh...)

Well Aion first has to convince me as well

I mean I played the beta a little, but I get bored in betas anyway since the leveling is all for nothing... however the questing didn't really feel very innovative (lots of kill this, gather that etc... which is sort of okay, but stuff like leveling in wotlk is just way more fun than the usual quests), and that combined with the rather flat leveling curve of Aion (from what I heard anyway, seems like it really takes some time to level up later in the game) I just might get bored with it at some point (getting new skills only every 3 levels doesn't help either!)

And then there was the announcement of Cataclysm which sounds like fun (and the quests won't be getting worse!)... and I'm not gonna kid myself there, I'm gonna buy cataclysm anyway ^^

So well, Aion better be a lot of fun to play, and even if it is good I might just play it as a bridge to something else

Aion's Open Beta, Pre-Select and Headstart Programs
August 27, 2009 8:58 AM

Within the next four weeks, we will treat European and North American gamers to two opportunities to jump into the world of Aion and explore Atreia as Asmodian or Elyos characters ahead of its release in Europe on 25nd September and North America 22th September. Aion's Open Beta Test featuring version 1.5 will take place 6-13th September and will include numerous Western enhancements, including improvements to Aion's innovative character customization with a host of Western styles, as well as new zones, instances, skills, quests and continued game balancing and improvements. Open Beta will retain a level cap for both Elyos and Asmodians characters at 30 allowing players to focus on getting to the same level so they can explore the lands of Atreia together, as well as the Abyss.

Players who have pre-ordered Aion will be treated to a Pre-Select and a two-day Headstart period giving them the opportunity to explore, organize and progress through the game prior to the official launch. Pre-Select will take place on 18th September, while Aion's Headstart will begin 20th September. Players can still participate in the Aion's Pre-Select and Headstart programs by pre-ordering the game through several participating online and brick-and-mortar retailers.

If i'm correct, Shifty (from Planetside) me and the rest of "Blood Pollution" are jumping in too, we've not yet decided where to go or what we'll be... we'll wait till about a week after release untill we'll jump in.

Beta so far has been pretty much lagless (only issue thus far was with the passchanging page being down for a while), and the game itself feels pretty polished, unlike some other MMOs at launch which I wont call by name  .
I just hope they avoid the asian grind as much as possible, because if there is one thing I hate its grinding pots/repaircosts/whatever

Did any of you also play closed beta? And if so, is there any change to the first ~20 levels?
